My PhD research was funded by a four-year grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and carried out in connection with the Linguistics Department and the Department of German Language and Literature at Amsterdam’s Vrije Universiteit. My dissertation was published as Codex Hummercensis (Groningen, UB, PE 12): An Old Frisian Legal Manuscript in Low Saxon Guise. [Leeuwarden: Fryske Akademy, 1998, 626pp (ISBN: 90-6171-858-9)]
