At first glance, AI-generated reports, presentations and emails seem astonishingly well written. The language is polished, and the layout looks professional. But a closer look usually reveals significant shortcomings. AI-generated reports may leave out essential information or include inaccurate or irrelevant content. They can be repetitive and lack a clear, persuasive structure.
Writers who rely on AI to produce their reports often fail to develop a solid understanding of the information they are presenting. As a consequence, they may struggle to answer questions and explain their reasoning in more depth during a call, meeting or presentation.
AI can support writers in nearly every stage of the writing process. But producing a report that truly resonates with readers still requires time and careful consideration. That includes thinking about what the report needs to achieve, what the specific readers will want to know, and which key messages you need to convey – as answers to the questions you expect the readers will have. It also includes developing logical and persuasive arguments and organising them strategically in a clear, accessible and easy-to-follow text structure.
My Report Writing workshops help participants develop the skills to do all of these things. We also discuss how they can use AI to help them at different stages throughout the writing process.
